While the City of Stanton, Texas has a sign upon entering the city of "Welcome to Stanton with 3,000 Friendly People and a Few Old Soreheads" one immediately grasp that Martin County people have a Texas size sense of humor.

If your traveling down Interstate 20 from Big Spring to Midland you might find a few memorable treasures awaiting you at a stop in a small oil community Texas town of Stanton.  Not everyone has a oil well pumping next to the green on the golf course and can take Texas soreheads in stride!  Nice motel facilities for overnight guests offered, too!

While in Martin County, Texas stop by for a visit to the Martin County Historical Museum.  Located at 207 East Broadway, click for map.  The museum is open from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

If you enjoy golf there is  a golf course waiting to test your skills at the Martin County Country Club, 303 W Bell Street, Stanton, Texas 79782, telephone (432) 756-2556.

Pick up a copy of the Martin County Messenger published by Bob and Christi Dillard for local news and events.  It is still great to have a local newspaper where old soreheads can vent, babies and marriages are still announced and local events are captured!
